As schools move past the pandemic, the impact still lingers. Disruptive behavior has been identified as the number one issue impacting student success and educator well-being. For educators around the globe, addressing student behavioral issues and identifying the rationale for such behavior has emerged as a source of frustration and anxiety.
For decades, researchers have established that classroom management is the single variable with the largest impact on student achievement. Sadly, many educators try to achieve behavioral success using methods developed decades ago. Those practices didn’t work then and definitely do not work now.
In this 3-hour session, Greg Wolcott, author of the best-selling book Significant 72: Unleashing the Power of Relationships in Today’s Schools, will introduce teachers and school leaders to a new approach to behavior that is both strength-based and proactive. He will share the components that make up an effective educational ecosystem where all student needs are met, student misbehavior is reduced, and student engagement is enhanced.
Participants in this session will:
-
Discover the six critical research-based components to creating effective behavioral support systems within schools
-
Understand the impact consistent routines and procedures (within each classroom and across the building) have on reducing challenging behavior and increasing student success.
-
Learn effective supports to help our neediest learners, and
-
Leave with a Behavior Blueprint to serve as an implementation plan for the coming school year.
