The Collective Teacher Efficacy Institute is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of how to foster a sense of efficacy in schools and classrooms. Schools that have a firmly established sense of collective efficacy, and are otherwise similar, have higher student achievement. If you’re interested in finding out how to make collective efficacy a reality in your school, this online learning experience is for you and your team.

Since collective teacher efficacy (effect size *1.39) topped John Hattie’s list of research identifying what matters most in raising student achievement, there have been many claims about what can be done to increase efficacy in schools. The ideas and strategies shared during the keynotes and breakout sessions of our online conference are grounded in cognitive science and a deep understanding of the efficacy research.

This conference is designed for busy educators who still want to grow and learn despite the unusual circumstances and challenges that have resulted based on COVID-19. Our online conference will feature keynotes and breakout sessions. All of the sessions will be recorded and remain available for your access until August 15th.

"How Educators’ Beliefs Impact Student Learning"

Collective efficacy is about the overwhelming power that school teams have to impact change. When educators share the belief that they can influence student achievement regardless of some of the challenges faced in schools today, the results can be very powerful. In this keynote, Jenni will share about the importance of collective teacher efficacy and the positive consequences that occur when efficacy is firmly established in schools. The audience will also learn about how efficacy beliefs are formed and how they can be fostered in schools and classrooms.

"The Anatomy of a Mastery Moment"

A key source of collective efficacy involves mastery experiences. What does it mean to have a mastery moment? Have we considered how mastery moments can revolutionize learning in our schools? How do we foster motivation for change and growth in both students and educators? What enabling conditions must be in place? During this keynote, participants will learn how redefining how we notice, share, and build on mastery moments can impact an entire system, build self and collective efficacy, and propel learners and educators into an upward spiral. That upward spiral will impact all learners in the system, building the dispositions for learning and the desire for deeper learning.

"Instructional Leadership: Creating Practice Out of Theory"

Instructional leadership is one of the most researched forms of leadership, but very little practical insight into how to implement it exists, and many leaders struggle to put it into practice. When COVID-19 hit in 2020 instructional leadership became much more difficult to implement because leaders were separated remotely from teachers and students. DeWitt, Ed.D. will take the research behind instructional leadership, as well as the research he did with hundreds of teachers and students during the pandemic, and dive deeper into six areas that he found is crucial to practices that lead to instructional leadership.
